EGL strengthens its origination activities Finland

Dietikon, 10 June 2009

EGL (Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft Laufenburg AG) is expanding its market presence in the Nordic region by establishing the subsidiary EGL Finland Oy in Finland and opening a new origination office in Helsinki.

EGL is consolidating its position as a Nordic energy trader and provider of origination products and services. EGL Finland Oy, a subsidiary of EGL Nordic, has established an origination office in Teknobulevardi 3-5, Vantaa (Helsinki airport).

Having been active in the Finnish market for five years, EGL recognises the strong demand for financial products. In the future EGL will offer standard and structured products as well as other commodity-related products. With its know-how and two top local Finnish employees, Matti Ahtosalo and Kalle Kuokka, EGL is ideally positioned to expand origination activities in Finland.

Matti Ahtosalo has been Head of Commodities at Sampo Bank/Danske Bank for four years, prior to which he worked as a Portfolio Manager in the energy industry. Kalle Kuokka has been a senior commodity trader at Sampo Bank/Danske Bank since 2007. Before that he was responsible for portfolio management in two different energy trading companies. The EGL Finland Oy subsidiary will be managed by Håkon Røhne, EGL Nordic. The office will be open for business by the end of June 2009.
